After a disappointing season in 2008 by his standards, Surjan was back at his tenacious best in 2009, finishing equal fourth in the Power’s best and fairest. Rarely beaten in defence, his combination of determination, strength and speed have seen him become the Power’s lead lock-down small defender. His work ethic, attitude and respect from his peers saw the likeable Surjan awarded the vice-captaincy for season 2010.
