Stuart Cochrane, AFL development coach/SANFL midfield coach

bio

From a talented South Australian football family, Cochrane's father and uncle both played for Central District, and he followed in their footsteps, eventually playing for the Elizabeth-based club himself before being drafted to North Melbourne.

There he played 50 games as a talented defender before coming home to South Australia via trade to Port Adelaide.

Playing in three seasons for the Power, he again made his name as a reliable defender and often played shut down roles on important opponents.

He was unlucky to miss Port Adelaide's 2004 Premiership team, but received a small consolation by playing in back-to-back flags with his own SANFL team Central District.

Cochrane worked for several years as the Power's player welfare and development manager, before jumping back into a role as a defensive development coach from 2013.

From 2017, he will work as a midfield development assistant to Michael Voss.
