THE Power hosted some passionate supporters all the way from Sweden recently, with the Wozniaks visiting a training session on their annual trip home to Australia.
John with son Adam and grandsons Jacob and Izak, decked out in Power gear, were up early to watch the boys in full flight.
It was the first time back to Alberton with the kids, where Adam fondly remembers watching the Magpies with his dad as a child.
John, who resides in Adelaide, loves the chance to catch up with the family on their return home and thought it fitting to bring the boys to Alberton, like he did with his own son many years ago.
Having followed the Magpies for 30 years and the Power since their induction into the AFL, Adam was keen to continue his passion for the club when he relocated overseas.
Adam moved to Sweden, after meeting his Swedish wife in Australia four years ago. He keeps up to date on the football via the internet, with live streaming of every Power game at 5am in Sweden.
“It’s not as much fun watching the replay when you know the score, Adam said.
“Often Jacob, , gets up to watch the game with me and sometimes Izak, , if his sleep patterns permit.
“They like to be involved.”
Adam also had a taste of coaching some of our players, at the Royal Adelaide Golf Club. A retired gold pro himself, he previously taught former players Troy Chaplin and Steven Salopek when he lived in Adelaide.
Football has been in the family for years with Adam playing country footy as a kid and his brother playing league footy.
He is keen to keep it this way, making sure his boys grow up following Port Adelaide and getting involved wherever possible.
“It’s great to get back [to Alberton] and see what the boys are up to!,” he said.
