INTERNATIONAL rookie Daniel Flynn will be welcomed back to Alberton with open arms by the Port Adelaide playing group if he chooses to resume his AFL career aspirations according to defender Matthew Broadbent.

Broadbent told portadelaidefc.com.au the Irishman, who departed the club due to family reasons in February, was a popular figure during his first weeks with the club.

"The boys love Flynny and loved having him around the club, he's a great bloke to have around," Broadbent told portadelaidefc.com.au.

"I'm not exactly sure what's going on with the talks to get him back, but as a playing group we'd love to have him back."

Flynn remains on the Power's rookie list and recently played with the European Legion team against the AIS-AFL Academy in London.

There he confirmed his desire to resume his training with Port Adelaide as part of his two-year international rookie agreement with the club.

Port Adelaide's general manager - football Peter Rohde confirmed the club had been in regular communication with Flynn since his departure and was working through arrangements to bring the Gaelic talent back to Alberton.

"Our national recruiting manager Geoff Parker has been with Daniel in London and we've been in regular contact with him since he went home as well," Rohde told portadelaidefc.com.au.

"He did play with the AIS Academy tour in London last week and we'll keep in touch with him in the future.

"It goes without saying how highly we rate him as a talent and the boys obviously enjoy having him with us, but there's still a little way to go."
