TRAVIS Boak, Angus Monfries and Matt White will play against Sydney at the SCG on Saturday afternoon.

But emerging midfielder Jared Polec won't make the trip after being ruled out with an ankle injury.

The Power's high performance staff had hoped Polec would be a chance to play against the Swans despite rolling his ankle in last weekend's 70-point win over St Kilda, but the creative midfielder will be forced to sit out at least this weekend in recovery.

The return of Boak and Monfries from ankle injuries, and White from a minor foot problem, will be welcome news heading into a huge game against the Swans in Sydney.

Port Adelaide hasn't won at the ground since 2006, and has only beaten the Swans once since that victory.

That game in a hard slog at AAMI Stadium last year, with a range of contributors around the ground that has characterised the Power playing style again in 2014.

It's that style that will be crucial to the club's chances on Saturday afternoon, according to senior coach Ken Hinkley.

"The important thing for us is that we play the brand of football that we have to play," Hinkley told portadelaidefc.com.au.

"There's a lot of threats in Sydney, and people are making a lot of threat about what Sydney can and can't do, and we understand they're a high quality side and have been for a long period of time.

"But we're confident that we can go up there and play the game style that we need to play, and that it's good enough to win."

Hinkley welcomed the return of his three exciting midfielders, who replace Ben Newton, Sam Gray and the injured Polec.

"All three are ready to go and they'll really add to the team," Hinkley said.

"If we looked at Sam and Ben's form - they been replaced by some really experienced players - and they'll go back knowing if they keep playing the way they've been playing, they'll be putting themselves in the best place to get the call up again one day.

"I'm confident they'll do that and play more games for us in the future."

Newton and Gray are the only inclusions in the Magpies squad of 23 for Sunday's big clash with Woodville-West Torrens at Alberton Oval, with the final team to be whittled down to 21 players on the day.

Port Adelaide takes on Sydney at the SCG at 2:10pm (AEST) on Saturday 14 June ahead of playing Woodville-West Torrens at Alberton Oval at 2:10pm on Sunday afternoon.
