KEN HINKLEY has called on The Advertiser's chief football writer Michelangelo Rucci to take the ice bucket challenge for motor neurone disease research at the Power's final minor round home game at the Adelaide Oval on Friday night.

Hinkley, himself challenged by club ambassador Roger Rasheed this morning, issued the call to Rucci, as well as Channel 7 Sport commetator and former Power and Cats player Tom Harley, and his entire coaching panel.

The ice bucket challenge aims to raise awareness for the debilitating and incurable motor neurone disease.

The Power coach was calculated in his challenge as well, saying his coaches would be forced to take the challenge at the club's final open training session before the game at the Adelaide Oval at 10:00am on Thursday.

He called Harley to take the challenge as part of Channel 7's national coverage before Friday night's game.

And the opinionated chief football writer?

The only specification given by Hinkley was that Michelangelo would have to be showered with ice in front of the expected 50,000+ crowd at the Adelaide Oval under lights.

Port Adelaide's chief executive Keith Thomas was also challenged by Rasheed and himself issued the call to Rudimental, Kirk Pengilly and NOVA 91.9's Dylan Lewis.

The Power plays famous songs by Rudimental (Not Giving In) before the player's run out at Adelaide Oval home games and Pengilly's INXS (Never Tear Us Apart) before the opening bounce.

The Power players accepted the ice bucket challenge, which aims to raise awareness for motor neurone disease, after being called to do so by the club's chairman David Koch on Tuesday.

The club will have further details on the new challenges in the coming days.
