Peter Jackson Player of the Week

Mitch Harvey
Mitch has really taken to the ruck in the past 2-3 weeks, he is certainly holding his own in there and is far more aggressive than earlier in the season. It was great to see him gain footy around the ground and test his opponent as well as hitting the scoreboard.

Player reviews

Steven Summerton
Had good possession numbers again and was among a handful that really had effort over the four quarters. He was really disappointed with the team’s performance and will make sure we bounce back in two weeks time.

Angus Bruggemann
Was well beaten early in the game against Alleway and struggled for good form from there on. Needed to be more aggressive stopping his opponent leading up at the footy.

Tom Clurey
From chocolates to boiled lollies for Tom this week. After winning the Peter Jackson Player of the Week against Norwood, he could not contain Glenelg’s main forward. Alleway really did get off the chain too easy but it was not all Tom’s fault as he was left to defend at times with little support around him and lack of pressure from up the ground on the ball.

Daniel Flynn
Has shown in lots of games that he is picking up the way we need to play, along with the skills and decisions of our game. Just needs to understand when to offload the ball to the right option up the ground and not try to keep taking people on.

Sam Gray
Sam did some good things during the game but he also needs to help out in the defensive parts as well, we just need to get a little more out of him from the midfield and get him hunting and contesting the footy across four quarters.

Nathan Krakouer
A really disappointing performance from Krak this week, he did not bring any energy and zip with his play inside forward 50. Needs to have a stronger defensive mindset when the ball is in his area.

Brendon Ah Chee
I cannot knock this kid's approach to his footy over the past 5-6 weeks, he has really lifted his workrate and energy around the stoppages and contests. Must finish off the year now by again trying to go to another level with his aggression and workrate.

Mason Shaw

Four shots on goal was an OK return from Mason, but he must convert his chances inside attacking 50. One highlight was his mark running back with the flight of the ball, but we are after four quarters of contesting and competing when the ball is in his area.

Henry Slattery
Thrown around a fair bit this week due to losing Darcy Byrne-Jones and Aaron Young early in the game. I just love the way he can adapt and play the team role for us and we need more of this attitude from others in our side.

Lewis Stevenson
I thought ok defensively this week but at times I would like to see more aggression and purpose against his direct opponent. He has used the ball really well exiting from defence but his opponent Scott had an impact late in the game and he needs to play four consistent quarters.

Sam Russell
Defended against his opponent really well - he did not give him much space at all to operate in. Made some good decisions to come off his man and impact on the play, but also needs to keep taking care with the ball when rebounding from defence.

Karl Amon
Has really impressed in his last month of footy, hitting good AFL running numbers and also finding and using the footy quite well. Karl went in through the midfield at times and has shown he can win his own ball and use it very well going inside forward 50.

Paul Stewart
I would like to see Paul impact more in his game and on this competition. He needs to play tough, contested footy over four quarters and look to bring his best each week. A very important player for us but he must find his good early form and take it into the next few weeks.

Ben Newton

It was a real tough day for Newts. Although he probably looked to have a focus on getting the ball, he lacked some balance in his game with regard to team defence. He is at his best when he is in there tackling, chasing and hunting the footy.

Cam Hitchcock
Had little impact in the game over four quarters. Hitchy has missed a big chunk of footy but must quickly find his ability to break open the opposition’s defensive method with that run and dash he has previously shown, as well having the balance to run both ways.

Darcy Byrne-Jones
Suffered a head clash early in the game and did not return to the ground for the rest of the match due to concussion.

John Butcher
I felt John really dominated his opponent both on the lead up and in one-on-one contests deep inside our forward 50. He kicked 2.3 and had another three shots on goal, so he could have had a big day in front of the sticks. John now must try to convert all of his chances and take his opportunities to put the opposition under pressure on the scoreboard.

Kane Mitchell
Like Newts, I felt Kane had a disappointing performance and I do expect a lot from him as he is one of our leaders who has played at the highest level and must bring his very best to every game. He was asked to go to Snook who was dominating the stoppages, but could not get the job done. Kane needs to get that energy and run back into his game as well as the ability to win his own ball in contested situations.

Aaron Young

Rolled his ankle during the second quarter and did not play any further part in the game.

Tom Logan
A bit stiff not to be named best for us this week, he always plays to the level expected and like Summo was very disappointed with the team's performance and that of some of his teammates. Gives a contest each week and went on ball in the last quarter to try to win the game but was very much on his own in there.
