ALMOST 9,000 Port Adelaide members purchased tickets to the Power's preliminary final against Hawthorn during the exclusive pre-sale period on Monday morning.

Port Adelaide expects around 15,000 supporters to make the journey to Melbourne to see the Power and Hawks go head-to-head on Saturday afternoon.

OPEN TRAINING ON FRIDAY

It comes as transport options organised by the club have become completely exhausted.

Places on the nine buses chartered by the club and four by its cheer squad sold within 24 hours of being released, while Virgin Australia has allocated additional flights to Melbourne for the game.

Great Southern Rail has also allocated additional train carriages on its Adelaide-Melbourne services.

But for the vast majority of supporters, the eight-hour car journey via the Dukes and Western highways will be the main journey to the second-biggest round of the year.

The club's general manager of consumer business and marketing Matthew Richardson says upward of 10,000 supporters are expected to make the journey to Melbourne over the weekend.

TICKETS ON SALE

"We'd expect anywhere between 10 and 15,000 to make the journey, Melbourne is a lot easier for people to get to," Richardson said on Monday.

"They can drive over and there's certainly a few more flights as well.

"Being at the MCG this week, capacity isn't the issue it was at Adelaide Oval or Subiaco, so our members have been able to buy up to five tickets per membership.

"All our buses are sold out, we won't be doing any more, we just encourage people to consider all options, including the AFL's Any game, Anywhere packages."

Port Adelaide's final AFL open training session will be held at 9:30am on Friday morning.
