PORT Adelaide will close its summer campaign with a match simulation at Alberton Oval on Friday night, with all gate takings going towards the state bushfire appeal.

Presented by OAK, the Bushfire Appeal will see Power and Magpies players go through their paces in a match simulation as players look to put their hand up for a spot in official AFL and SANFL trial games that get underway next week.

It will be the first chance members get to see several players in the flesh, including off-season trade recruit Paddy Ryder.

After running a coaching clinic for bushfire-affected communities in Kersbrook, Port Adelaide decided to donate all gate takings – in the form of gold coin donations - from the night to the state's bushfire appeal.

An autograph signing session with the Power's players will be held later in the evening, and the club will have a brand new 2015 Season Guide and Autograph Book available from its membership marquee, the Port Store and near the gates, and is a great companion to the season for both parents and kids.

Gates open at Alberton Oval at 4:30pm with the match simulation at 5:30pm.

What's happening on Friday night?

Match simulation
Players will compete in match practice, featuring a mix of Power and Magpies players. The coaches will umpire and direct the game and on occasions will give feedback to players. The coaches have decided they will occasionally kick-in after goals to practice set-ups defensively and offensively.

Director of coaching Shaun Hart said the session would be used as a chance for players to compete for spots in the NAB Challenge and Round 1.

"It's a good opportunity for us to put players in match-play situations and test our structures and methods in offence and defence," Hart said.
