TWO Port Adelaide Academy players will be eligible to play League football in 2015 after signing on to the club's senior SANFL contract list.

Tom Gray - brother of AFL-listed Sam - and ruckman Jonathon Ross, joined Robbie Young in putting pen to paper for a 2015 contract on Monday.

Young played 14 SANFL games in 2014.

It brings the total number of contracted players to nine for this season; six positions remain available.

Candidates for the remaining positions will be evaluated over the next three weeks.

While Young only needed to recover from a minor injury to secure a deal renewal for this season, SANFL senior coach Garry Hocking praised the work of both Gray and Ross on the training track for earning their place on the League list.

"They've been in the system a little while, Tom Gray was probably the 16th player for a group that could only have 15 last year," Hocking told portadelaidefc.com.au.

"He had a really good season in the Academy team last year, working hard and improving his game and came into this pre-season fitter and with a really good attitude.

"Ross was tough to be overlooked last year, but we thought he had a good season in the Academy and learnt to be more aggressive in the ruck.

"He also has a good field kick and had a really good pre-season, he deserves the opportunity."

Port Adelaide plays Norwood in its first trial match for the 2015 season at Norwood Oval on Friday night. Entry is free, with the league game commencing at 7:40pm.
