Q: Is this weekend’s game against Freo Boaky’s 50th as captain?

According to AFL statisticians, Round 1 marks Travis Boak's 50th game as captain.

But Boaky's missed two games since he was appointed club captain in 2013, leaving him on 48 as the club's full-time skipper, with two as acting captain for the injured Dom Cassisi in 2012 bringing up the half-ton.

So what's it going to be: this weekend or in two weeks time? portadelaidefc.com.au argues the point for you (and don't forget to have your say below)...

YES
It’s great to have Boaky captaining his 50th game this weekend which, as we all know, comes after he was acting captain in two games in 2012. We all know Trav was vice-captain that year, and when Dom Cassisi wasn’t able to play, he rightfully stood in. Those games count. It’s similar to considering the question of the club’s first captain in an AFL game. Again the answer is easy (and unarguable) - it’s Brayden Lyle. Of course Brayden was vice-captain to Gavin Wanganeen in 1997, but when Wangas was injured for that first game against Collingwood, Lyle stood in. It doesn’t matter that he was a deputy, he was the skipper on the day. It’s exactly the same with Boak in 2012. - Matthew Agius

NO
I love Boaky and think he’ll go down as one of our great captains, but he’s not captaining his 50th game until Round 3 against North Melbourne. To say otherwise is like saying Warren Truss (deputy prime minister) is our prime minister when Tony Abbott is away. He’s our ACTING PM when Abbott is away. Just like Brayden Lyle was our ACTING captain in Round 1, 1997 and Boaky was ACTING captain in 2012. - Andrew Fuss
