Peter Jackson Player of the Week

Paul Stewart

Considering he missed Round 2 due to AFL duties as emergency, Paul had a very consistent four quarters and provided us with good leadership, run and quality finish with the footy.

Player reviews

Karl Amon

A real positive response to his game this week after a disappointing one against South in Round 2. With good possession numbers and a mixture of contested and uncontested footy, Karl looked to really hurt the opposition with his finish inside-50.

Mitch Harvey

I’m very confident in his ability to play ruck-forward for us at this level after competing well in this role across season 2014. He is developing his game at a steady rate and continues to gain confidence with more game time.

Steven Summerton

A classy performance from the skipper again with four shots on goal as well as a couple of goal assists. He used the ball really well and continues to lead from the front.

Jake Neade

Came back into the Magpies with good work rate and appetite for pressuring the opposition, as well as hitting the scoreboard himself. This must be a benchmark game for him going forward.

Ben Sawford

Sawf came into the team for his first look for season 2015. Worked hard on-ball and helped support our midfield.

Tom Logan

We love what Tom does week in, week out for us, consistently puts effort in and like Summo gives great leadership and direction out on the ground to our younger players. Enjoyed some opportunities to get his hands on the ball as well. Solid performance.

Tom Clurey

Matched up on one of North’s key forwards and contested really well, Cluzza is growing in confidence every week and has shown he can handle the big forwards. He will have to be at his best this week against Norwood.

John Butcher

Butch had great effort in his game this week worked hard for scoring opportunities both in the air and from forward pressure.

Sam Russell

A very steady game from ‘Rooster’ this week, and we like the fact he is showing good consistency in his game now. Played aggressively and looked to attack at the right times for us.

Cam O’Shea

Found plenty of the ball this week again with 27 disposals. It’s certainly not his main focus, but this amount of possession came off the back of hard running to defend the opposition ball movement.

Louis Sharrad

Love the way Louie plays tough for us with true Magpies spirit, and gives us lots of confidence and support in the midfield when he is in there. Very solid game.

Sam Gray

Had more opportunities on ball this week and did not let himself or the team down, he worked really hard over four quarters and loved the fact he had three tackles and put pressure on the opposition.

Darcy Byrne-Jones

Darcy had a consistent performance and like so many of our other younger players on our list, is growing weekly in the confidence that they can compete regularly at SANFL level. Darcy is playing aggressively for us and continues to give us drive when we win back the ball.

Luke Wilson

This was Luke’s first League game for us after coming back from Norwood. We have been very impressed with him settling back into our club and working hard for the opportunity to play. He is learning new structures, but is showing great signs that he can regularly play at this level for us going forward.

Logan Austin

Has provided us with a real genuine contest down back over the past two games. He looks to defend first and then get into offence to punish the opposition with his ability to be able to use the ball.

Andrew Moore

Strong performance again backing up from the South game in Round 1. Tough on the inside and continually got the ball going forward for us. He has returned from injury with a good work rate and effort and needs to hold this form for an AFL opportunity.

Sam Colquhoun

A very efficient game for Sam with great ball use. He continually works hard for us in his defensive actions and gives us great drive when we regain the ball. Great to see him back in 2015 playing solid footy.

Jarred Redden

Very consistent effort from Reddo this week, he is starting to gain confidence in his ability to run out a game and compete hard across four quarters for us.

Jesse Palmer

Jesse is taking some time to get to know structures and teammates but we are very impressed that he is extremely coachable and takes everything in. He is looking to improve his game at every stage and put good pressure on the opposition inside-50.

Johann Wagner

Like Jesse, Yoey will take time to learn new things but you can see some good signs of him impacting in our games across 2015.
