WEST Coast star forward Josh Kennedy may require surgery to his elbow, leaving him uncertain for this Sunday’s clash against the Power at the Adelaide Oval.

Kennedy hyper-extended his right arm during the second term of the Eagles’ clash with GWS, returning in the third quarter with heavy strapping.

The tall forward didn’t train on Monday night, awaiting a medical assessment.

According to westcoasteagles.com.au if there’s danger of further damage he may have to go under the knife.

But Kennedy remains confident he’ll be okay to play against the Power, saying a strong return to the field on Saturday night was a good sign.

“…coming back on in that last half was pretty encouraging, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be available this week,” Kennedy told 6PR.

“I don’t know too much until I get the opinion today, so I’ve kind of been up in the air.”

The absence of the tall target in West Coast’s forward line could be a game-changer in the clash, with Kennedy booting six goals in the Eagles’ 87-point-demolition over GWS in Round 5.

Meanwhile wingman Matt Rosa is expected for return against the Power after being sidelined in Round 5 due to back tightness.

A few other minor injury niggles may affect match-ups, with Luke Shuey and Will Schofield suffering ankle tweaks and Mark LeCras subbed out with tightness last week - but all three are still expected to play.

West Coast coach Adam Simpson said Kennedy is the only concern in the team ahead of the clash with Port Adelaide, also pointing to the depth of the Eagles’ ranks.

“Mark Hutchings and [Brant] Colledge performed pretty well at East Perth on the weekend and we also rested Jackson Nelson so there’s a few guys waiting in the wings,” Simpson said on Monday.

“It is hard to make changes when you have a good victory like we did on the weekend but we’ll see what kind of match-ups we have.”
