Peter Jackson Player of the Week

Brendon Ah Chee

I thought Arch worked very hard over the course of the game. He needs support from our other mids but this kid keeps putting his head over the footy and provides great leadership in the way he goes about his footy.

Jake Neade

A slow start to the game this week, but when pushed forward Jake gave us real energy and a strong presence inside 50 with his aggressive pressure and tackling.

Mitch Harvey

Disappointed with his game. Battled OK at times but needs to get to a few more contests for us and provide more of a presence forward or as a ruck.

Steven Summerton

A big possession game again for the skipper and continues to win his contests around the stoppages for us. Work rate in defence just needs to be a bit more consistent at times as well.

Ben Sawford

Got another look at it again due to Amon being emergency for the AFL team. Worked hard for four quarters and used the ball well at times for us.

Tom Logan

Did a fine job on McGregor who has really been an Eddie Betts-type for the Eagles - just needs to apply himself to the role for four quarters.

Tom Clurey

Solid performance as an early forward, kicked one great goal but was needed to go back and support our defence after half time.

John Butcher

Disappointed with John’s game. He did not work at all to get to enough contests and needs to respond this week.

Sam Russell

A little down on what he has produced in earlier games. Starting to win his own ball but needs to hurt the opposition better in offence. Progressing well and far more consistent effort each week.

Cam O’Shea

Cam did a few good physical things early in the game, but we are looking for more leadership and direction from him, and also a consistent effort each time he plays.

Louis Sharrad

Not as good a performance as the one last week against the arch enemy Norwood. He battled hard though and will always look to give 100%.

Sam Gray

Good numbers again playing through the midfield. He had a good battle with Petrenko but needs to be more aggressive in the contest, as we know he can dominate at this level.

Paul Stewart

Came back into the team and played a few different roles for us. I really want Paul to understand that we are a defence-first team, as we know he can hurt teams with his ability to run and use the ball.

Darcy Byrne-Jones

Inconsistent performance this week. Darcy is an exciting young player when he plays on edge each time he takes the field, and he is so important to the team when he uses his aggression and talent consistently.

Robbie Young

Still has a lot to learn, but I like the way he takes the game on when he has possession. Another strength is his ability to tackle, chase and harass the opposition.

Logan Austin

I was very happy with his performance, Logan is improving weekly and we love the way he plays with his aggression in contests. Logan is really showing our more mature players the right standard expected when defending as well as his composure when in possession.

Mason Shaw

A disappointing performance. This being his second game back is no excuse - Mason needs to play with aggression and get to as many contests as he possibly can.

Sam Colquhoun

Had a much more defensive mindset to his game this week and bounced back from a poor game last week. Sam is an exciting talent but needs to defend first for the team and then let rip with his weapons.

Jarred Redden

Another solid performance from the big guy who battled hard against Borholm. Copped a late knock to the back, but should be available this week.

Jesse Palmer

I liked his attack on the ball and his six tackles were with real intent and aggression. Getting a good understanding of the level he needs to play at weekly because it is a big step up from the TAC Cup.

Jack Haarsma

I was really excited for Jack to get his first game for the Magpies at League level. Jack played the whole year in 2014 for our Academy team and through good form was awarded a senior contract. He looked composed, finished with a nice goal and is tough and smart enough to play at this level.
