Peter Jackson Player of the Week

Jarman Impey

Back from injury but got straight into it with a tough job on Hone who kicked five goals last week. Jars kept him goalless but was also able to give us good defensive coverage and some great running rebounding offence.

Player Reviews

Jake Neade

Very solid performance in the game early and is consistently getting shots on goal, would just like to see him finish his work off.

Mitch Harvey

A little improvement from last week’s Eagles game battled better and contested in the air like a power forward should.

Steven Summerton

I would say he was consistent again, but spent more time forward this week and had to overcome the ‘run-with’ role from Calabrese. Looked dangerous and also supported our mids well.

Tom Logan

Turned over the footy a couple of times early but was able to recover and settle back into the game. Some real courageous efforts at times running back with the flight of the ball to assist our defence.

Tom Clurey

Just needed to stay in battle mode for the whole game with the Kirkwood matchup. Kirkwood’s class and footy smarts at times caught Tom out, but we were pleased enough with what we saw from him.

John Butcher

Just needs to find a way to give us more in-and-around the forward line. Must bring energy, speed and a contest weekly at this level as we know his best is good enough.

Sam Russell

Around the mark again with his performance and his endeavor to play on the dangerous smalls. Very physical against his direct opponent at times but needs to develop consistency in this area to progress to the next level as a player.

Louis Sharrad

Has been solid the last few weeks, gives us a contest around the ball and continues to develop his game. Cannot fault his voice and direction.

Sam Gray

Very similar to Neade, up and about early with high energy and run from the midfield. Four tackles is a great result as well as winning some quality possession.

Paul Stewart

Not big numbers this week for Stewy but I did like his defensive mindset and actions over the course of the game.

Darcy Byrne-Jones

Much better this week from Darcy, he defended well against his opponent. Had good attacking run at the right times and kept us in the game during the third quarter with his willingness to hunt the opposition’s ball movement.

Logan Austin

Had a good tussle with his direct opponent. Enjoys the responsibilities of playing on the big forwards week to week. Defends with real effort and attacks at the right times.

Mason Shaw

Was a little better than the week before and at times showed his talent. He is supporting the defence and learning a new position, but did provide us with a couple of strong contests forward as well.

Sam Colquhoun

Had an opportunity to get up the ground a bit this week, provided us with good defensive pressure and was able to win some quality footy as well.

Jarred Redden

Battling really hard in the ruck for us and is getting good support from others. Had some opportunity to spend some time forward and we liked that he can give us a strong target to kick to at times

Jesse Palmer

Good first half for Jesse. That’s not to say he had a poor second half, because he did still contribute a times and we know it takes time to adjust to this level. We see that he is taking good steps forward with his footy.

Sid Masters

Still got a lot to learn the debutant, but he did a really good job for us in defence. Solid performance first up and we hope he can remain in the team as we feel he can be one to watch as the season unfolds.

Karl Amon

Had AFL duties last week with him being the carryover emergency. You do wonder whether they can come back in and perform to the level they were at, but Karl had a very solid performance in both defence and offence for us.

Johann Wagner

I saw some footy stuff I liked from him - composed at times and ran to some really good spots to receive the footy. Kicked the clutch goal for us late in the fourth quarter to seal the game, so I feel he will get a good dose of confidence from this performance.

Anthony Biemans

Strong performance for us as a forward, love his attack on the pill in tight and can hit the scoreboard as well. But the kicking boot was a touch off this week in front of goal.
