Peter Jackson Player of the Week

Paul Stewart

Worked really hard and was very consistent across the game, we are still looking for him to also add strong leadership to this group and there have been good improvements in this area from him.

Player Reviews

Jake Neade

Consistency of performance is Jake’s challenge at the moment. He was our best player early in the game but we are still searching for that four-quarter effort.

Mitch Harvey

Difficult at times for Mitch, due to the errors up the field, but in this game he didn't have the same aerial impact when the ball was in his area.

Steven Summerton

Very solid game again with good numbers. Summo really finished off his work inside forward 50 this week.

Tom Logan

A busy game again from Tommy. I cannot fault his approach to the contest. A real leader for our younger players as he oozes Magpies passion.

Tom Clurey

Found plenty of the ball in the back half, but needs to have more composure at times. Played a significant role for us and was about 50/50 for contest wins against Podsiadly.

Louis Sharrad

Solid game and respectable numbers from Louie. Needs to always think about having good composure when in possession and still provided plenty of grunt around the contest for us.

Karl Amon

Back into the Maggie off a calf complaint, Karlos took some time to settle into the game and his role. Two-way running was evident for most parts of the game.

Aaron Young

Had a real battle this week with the Adelaide mids, Aaron needs to become elite at ground ball and offer more leadership and direction around contests as well as play with AFL intensity across four quarters.

Darcy Byrne-Jones

Performance was OK as he was given a challenge to learn more about midfield craft. Contested and battled hard around the ball but was needed to go back and support our defence later in the game.

Dougal Howard

Second game blues for Dougal, as I felt he struggled to get into the rhythm of the match. Poor decision-making or skill errors affected some of his good positioning as a forward.

Cam O’Shea

Besides a couple of poor skill errors, Cam was pretty solid. Supported the defence really well at times and got involved in our offence with good run and carry of the ball.

Jarred Redden

Not his best performance and we know he can have more impact for us, whether it be directly contesting the ruck or around the ground. Must pack aggression in his footy bag each week.

Sid Masters

Like the look of this young player - still has plenty to learn, but is very coachable week-to-week. Generally uses the footy well for us when in offence but just needs to maintain concentration over four quarters.

Sam Gray

Very consistent game for us and he battled hard in and around the midfield. Provided the team with AFL speed and intensity and linked up very well when we were in offence. Leadership around stoppage is vital for him to progress as a player.

Anthony Biemans

An OK game. Impacted in spurts for us in offence and also gave good support to our defence on occasions as well.

Billy Frampton

Liked his aggression in contests forward or on-ball. Needs to impact more around the ground in marking contests but he has still only played his third game.

Jesse Palmer

Lively over the course of the game, but still looking for Chooka to have more impact across four quarters. Finish in front of goals perhaps shaded his performance a little.

John Butcher

Had really tough battles this week against the tall forwards of Adelaide. Solid defending at times and looked safe in some one-on-ones, but still must get consistency in both his defensive work and our offence.

Logan Austin

Very similar to Butch, he had a giant task of defending some big strong forwards. Halved most of his contests and defended really well considering, at times, the ball came without much pressure on it.
