PORT Adelaide has named its Academy squad for Saturday's SANFL reserves prelim final against North Adelaide at Richmond Oval.

The Academy defeated the Roosters by five points in a thrilling qualifying final two weeks ago, however was forced into the prelim after losing the following second semi final against the Eagles.

The side will not feature names like Ciaran Hollingworth-Hughes, Sean Davidson or Robbie Young - players who have spent much of the season in the reserves, as they were part of the league team that was knocked out of the SANFL finals race against Central District last week.

SANFL regulations prevent players going back to the reserves in those circumstances.

The Academy will also be without the services of 2014 Under-18 best and fairest Adam Mahney, who injured his anterior cruciate ligament against Woodville-West Torrens in the semi final.

The winner of the match will progress to the reserves grand final against the Eagles.

Entry to Richmond Oval is free.
