AFTER last Friday night's internal trial you’d forgive the players for having a quiet Saturday morning, but this wasn't the case for Brad Ebert.

Ebert was invited to join the crew from Concubine Yachting and took to the waters in the SA IRC State Championships Race.

The Power vice-captain was positioned on the grinder, where the crew noted his work was pretty impressive!

The South Australian-owned and based Concubine is a 45-foot yacht fresh off its maiden Sydney Hobart voyage where it finished 13th overall.

In the coming weeks Concubine will compete in the Adelaide to Port Lincoln Yacht Race and a four-day regatta in Port Lincoln, but with the AFL season opener approaching supporters can rest assured Ebert will be keeping his feet on dry land from now on.

Jason Clark is part of the Concubine crew and said Ebert was by no means out of his depth.

"I played footy with Brad at Henley Sharks, and he was pretty keen to try sailing, he did some lessons before Christmas," Clark said.

"As a 'grinder' Brad was one of the two 'heavy lifters' on the boat, so when the sails come up and down these guys stand on a pedestal and wind pretty hard to help that process.

"Brad was really good, I think early on it was a bit of a shock for him to get used to some of our terminology - he often said it was like we were speaking another language.

"But by the end of the week, he was on top of what his role was and we didn't really notice him - he fit into the team really well."

Concubine will be in the field for Adelaide's premier yacht race from Adelaide to Port Lincoln from 22-25 February.

"We were fresh off the Sydney-Hobart - the boat was brand new in November from Dubai and assembled in six weeks from Adelaide to Sydney," Clark said.

"Last weekend was our last weekend of prep for Adelaide to Port Lincoln race, which is the premier off-shore race in SA.

"That's followed by one shorter week of races, which also comprise of a regatta over in Port Lincoln."
