AARON YOUNG has been recognised as Round 9’s Most Valuable Player by fans for yet another consistent performance, despite an eight-point loss to West Coast on Saturday night.

The in-form forward booted a team-high of four goals and finished with 21 disposals, taking his goal count this season to 19.

Young also stands in equal-ninth position on the AFL goal-kicking leader board, alongside Taylor Walker and Tom Lynch of the Adelaide Crows.

Robbie Gray made a solid return to the game, fielding MVP votes from fans after being sidelined for three weeks with a hamstring injury.

Gray’s return saw him manage a team-high 28 disposals.

Jared Polec finished with 24 disposals and one goal, leading to him gaining a mention in Port Adelaide’s best.

Charlie Dixon polled MVP votes, finishing with 20 disposals, two goals and one behind, as did Jackson Trengove for another solid performance in the ruck, managing 13 hit outs and 15 disposals.

The votes at the end of Round 9 saw Gray move to second position, Young and Polec shift to equal fourth and Trengove jump ahead to fifth.

Fans can win a signed Port Adelaide football or guernsey simply by voting for their top three players after each game. 

The winning player of the 2016 Fans’ MVP competition will receive $1,000 at the end of the year to donate to a charity of their choice, thanks to Property Asset Planning.

Magpies Fans' MVP - Round 9

Sam Gray has once again been voted the Magpies MVP by fans for his performance during the Maggies' 48-point win over top-ranked South Adelaide on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Gray, who played his second SANFL game of the season finished with 32 disposals, including eight clearances to secure the Magpies third win of the season in front of a home crowd.

The Round 9 match saw Luke Reynolds boot four goals and take a spectacular mark in the second quarter.

Kane Mitchell polled MVP votes, managing 30 disposals, nine clearances and one goal to keep him at the top of the leader board.

Jimmy Toumpas finished with 28 disposals and two goals, securing a spot in Port Adelaide’s best.

Dougal Howard fielded MVP votes for his efforts, managing 17 disposals and booting one goal.

The votes at the end of Round 9 saw Mitchell extend his lead and Gray move up one position on the Magpies fans’ MVP leader board.
