portadelaidefc.com.au spoke to the players after Saturday's big win over Melbourne.

Darcy-Byrne Jones

It was good, we felt really safe back there with the forwards and mids putting pressure on the way they did, it makes our job down back really easy.

It felt like we controlled the game.

It's always a good feeling to get on the end of the goal and put one through the big sticks.

It's always good when the leaders step up, because young guys like myself just want to follow them and learn from their example - it goes a long way to helping us win.

Jarman Impey

It was a really good build-up. Everyone played well and wanted to get their team roles done.

We probably didn't quite play four quarters - we've got a lot to improve on - but the boys were up and about and really wanted to play well.

I'd like to think we have a special connection with this place. It's a beautiful deck each year, and I was talking to a local who said we bring a lot of people from outside the city, so it was good to get a good crowd here, have them getting behind us and getting a win.

Cam O'Shea

I thought we all played our role in the second quarter and we got outside them a little bit, which was good.

It was really positive to keep Melbourne below 100 points, they still got a few through us which we'll get better at.

But it was a solid performance.

We'll attack this week, review Melbourne on Monday and look towards Collingwood.
