portadelaidefc.com.au takes a look at who’s in the mix to play in the Power’s clash against Richmond at Adelaide Oval this Friday night.

Port Adelaide

The Power’s injury list will be shortened this Friday night as key backman Jack Hombsch pushes for selection against the Tigers after missing three games to a hamstring injury.

Hombsch was replaced by youngster Logan Austin in Round 11, who has impressed coaching staff since his AFL debut against Collingwood.

It remains to be seen who will come out for Hombsch – more than likely coming down to match ups and form.

With young tall Dougal Howard ruled out for the season after rupturing his ACL before the bye, the Power will have one forced change, which could see the return of veteran Jay Schulz.

Schulz made his long-awaited return to football in the club’s SANFL side before the bye after recovering from back surgery.

He’s available for AFL selection this week and could be a straight swap for Howard.

If included in the side, Schulz could free up big man Charlie Dixon to assist Jackson Trengove in ruck duties in the absence of injured Matthew Lobbe and Howard.

Jared Polec and Sam Colquhoun are also pushing their case for an AFL recall after producing solid efforts with the Magpies.

Richmond

A number of Tigers could overcome injury to make an appearance in Richmond’s Round 15 side, including defender Jake Batchelor and ruckman Shaun Hampson.

Hampson came off during their win over Brisbane at the weekend with a right knee injury, however fitness staff haven’t ruled him out for Friday night’s clash - he’ll be a test to face the Power.

Likewise Batchelor will be tested this week after being a late withdrawal to their Round 14 team thanks to a back niggle sustained at training.

Forward Ben Griffiths has also recovered from an illness and is available for selection, while Ben Lennon is also expected to return from a shoulder injury– albeit most likely through the VFL.
