2016 A.R. MCLEAN Medallist Kane Mitchell has finished equal third overall in the SANFL Best and Fairest Magarey Medal count.

The tough midfielder collected 18 votes, finishing equal with Woodville West Torrens’ James Boyd and Jarrod Petrenko.

Mitchell featured in the top 10 leaderboard at every stage during the count, despite only playing 11 of a possible 18 games - he split his time between Port Adelaide’s SANFL and AFL competitions during the 2016 season.

The 26-year-old was the only Port Adelaide player to poll in the final top 10.

It’s been a remarkable year for Mitchell, who, in addition to winning the Port Adelaide SANFL Best and Fairest, also scooped up the Max Porter Memorial Trophy for the Magpies’ most consistent player at Port Adelaide’s presentations on Friday night.

Sturt’s Zane Kirkwood was the eventual winner of the Magarey Medal with a total of 24 votes, followed by Woodville West Torrens’ N O’Brien in runner-up (19 votes).
