Port Adelaide supporter Cathryn McDonald could win $31,500 thanks to a 49m kick into the wind by Tom Jonas.

To celebrate UBET’s two-year partnership-extension with the Power, a long-punt competition was held at Alberton Oval on Tuesday.

There Jonas, Paddy Ryder, Justin Westhoff and Ollie Wines took a kick for Port members Justin Arbon, Rory Smith, Alessia Faccini and McDonald.

For being the lucky member aligned to the furthest kicker, 24-year-old McDonald has had a complimentary $1500 bet put on the Power to win the 2017 AFL premiership.

At current odds of $21, that means she could win over $30,000 if Travis Boak and Ken Hinkley lift the premiership cup at the end of the season.

UBET has sponsored the Power for two seasons already.

“We’re excited to have UBET on board again in 2017 and 2018 and it’s a testament to Port Adelaide’s appeal as a brand that they’ve signed on for another two seasons,” said Port Adelaide general manager of commercial Richard Kelly.

“As the licensed betting partner and Tote operator in South Australia, UBET upholds the highest standards of responsible gambling and we place great importance on partnering with an organisation which shares those values.

“UBET’s commitment to the club along with our other joint major and premier partners is an important milestone for Port Adelaide as we look towards China next year and the opportunities that will bring with it.”

UBET chief operating officer, Brendan Parnell said UBET was excited to be on board in 2017.

As part of Wednesday’s Big Kick event, UBET also provided a $2,500 bet on the premiership for charity partner Legacy.

“We wish Ken, Travis and the team all the best for next year. Hopefully for the four lucky members and also Legacy, they will be in the thick of the action at finals time,” he said.

“We live and breathe sport at UBET; and the key with this partnership is being associated with a club which has supporters as passionate as the Port fans.

“As the licensed wagering partner in South Australia, UBET will be upgrading a number of outlets across the state in the next six months, including a large scale refurbishment of the Junction Hotel outlet.

“Our association with Port Adelaide, coupled with our SAJC and TRSA sponsorships, and these retail upgrades will see UBET invest in excess of $2 million in the state by next July.”
