RECORDS have tumbled on a disastrous night for Port Adelaide in Showdown 43.

The Crows handed the Power their hometown derby head in a comprehensive performance led by skipper Taylor Walker and Showdown medallist Sam Jacobs.

And as Port fans would have watched on TV, at the club or at the ground as their side were brushed aside by their bitter rival, the tumbling records at the end of the night added salt to the wound.

Adelaide’s victory presented West Lakes with the biggest win in the history of the Showdown – by a point - and the ascendency in the derby ledger for the first time since the Crows went 4-3 way back in 2000.

Port were beaten from the first bounce - with the Crows dominating every facet of the game, only their errant kicking kept the Power in with a chance – at quarter time the victors had booted 1.9 to Port’s 1.1, but had 16 more inside 50s.

The Power's only goal for the first half was manufactured by Justin Westhoff winning his own ball in a 100 metre footrace midway through the first term.

There were few other highlights for Port – Robbie Gray was its best afield for the second week, while Ollie Wines toiled hard to win the contested ball.

Jack Hombsch also kicked his first AFL goal.

Defeat on Sunday night was a double whammy for the Power, with an earlier victory to Richmond at the MCG putting the Tigers two games clear in third place, ahead of the fourth-placed Cats six premiership points clear of the Power in fourth.

Port is percentage ahead of the Swans and Bulldogs, and one win ahead of a glut of teams on 10 victories each.

The Power return to Adelaide Oval at the same time next week to host an in-form Collingwood. That game takes place at 4.10pm ACST on Sunday 13 August.
