SAM POWELL-PEPPER will be rested this weekend and won't front Collingwood on Sunday night.

Nor will the first-year midfielder play against West Adelaide on Saturday afternoon.

Power coach Ken Hinkley confirmed his side's fifth and final alteration ahead of the release of final squads on Friday afternoon.

The only replacements for the exclusion of Powell-Pepper, Jack Hombsch (hip) and Angus Monfries, Jackson Trengove and Aaron Young (all omitted) are Chad Wingard, Dougal Howard, Dan Houston and Brendon Ah Chee.

After 20 games this season, Hinkley said the time had come to give Powell-Pepper a break.

"We probably think it's an opportunity for him to have a bit of a spell in his first season, which has been amazing," Hinkley said.

"We'll take that opportunity this week and we'll give him a little rest.

"Speaking to him during the week, he said, 'I don't really need a rest, but I'll have it'.

"He'll be back next week, he'll be back in and at it again."

Monfries, Trengove and Young will all face West Adelaide on Saturday afternoon.

Port Adelaide then plays Collingwood at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday 13 August at 4.10pm.
