Hello everyone my name is Braedon Talbot.  I have recently been appointed in the new full time role of Powerful Futures Program Coordinator with Power Community Limited.  Originally from Darwin, I have lived and worked within the wider Adelaide community for the past 6 years.  My Aboriginal family background is Larrakia, which is the traditional country of the Darwin and rural area.

Within my role I work with past graduates from the Aboriginal Power Cup and help transition them into employment through either traineeships, apprenticeships or sustainable careers.  I also help students enter into tertiary education or further studies to help them develop into successful education.  To qualify for the Powerful Futures Program, students must achieve their SACE and have an attendance record of 90%.  The program also provides assistance through mentoring and support to students to help them achieve these requirements.

Since the beginning of the Powerful Futures Program at the end of 2016, we have successfully placed 122 students into employment with an additional 57 students progressing into further studies.   We also work with current Aboriginal Power Cup students to gain work experience, arrange industry tours and offer valuable volunteer experience to help build their resume content.

This year we have had 450 students pass through our Aboriginal Power Cup and I look forward to working with these students during their transition into sustainable employment or further study.  We gratefully acknowledge the Attorney Generals Department who fund the program.

If you have any potential opportunities within your workplace for these young inspiring students or would like to talk further about the program, please contact me on btalbot@pafc.com.au.
