FREMANTLE defender Ryan Nyhuis has been referred directly to the AFL Tribunal over his tackle on Port Adelaide’s Robbie Gray in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Dockers at Optus Stadium.

Match Review Officer Michael Christian classified Nyhuis’ action as careless conduct, with severe impact and high contact.

According to the AFL’s tribunal guidelines, all intentional or careless incidents classified as ‘severe impact’ are referred directly to the tribunal and carry a minimum sanction of three matches.

Nyhuis’ tribunal hearing is set to be held on Tuesday evening.

Nyhuis’ teammate Nathan Wilson has also been cited for two separate incidents of misconduct against Power skipper Travis Boak in the melee that followed the tackle on Gray.

Both incidents come with a $2500 fine but Wilson can pay $1500 per incident with an early plea, meaning he can accept a $3000 total fine.
