PORT ADELAIDE defender Tom Clurey was among three Power players to receive votes in the 2018 SHADFORTH FINANCIAL GROUP AFLCA CHAMPION PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD after his side’s loss to West Coast on Saturday evening.

Clurey polled three votes after having 17 disposals, seven marks, and three tackles.

The 24-year-old also had five rebound 50s, six spoils and two inside 50s.

Clurey’s teammate Aidyn Johnson was given two votes for his three-goal effort while restricting the dominance of All-Australian defender Jeremy McGovern.

Power defender Tom Jonas received one vote after racking up 30 disposals, 13 marks, and five spoils.

West Coast’s Luke Shuey was given the perfect 10 votes for his 31 disposals and 11-clearance effort.

Defender Tom Barrass who limited the influence of Power forward Charlie Dixon was awarded six votes, while Elliot Yeo and Scott Lycett received four.

Along with Shuey, Taylor Adams (Collingwood), Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs), Patrick Dangerfield (Geelong), Isaac Heeney (Sydney Swans), Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti (Essendon), Lachie Neale (Fremantle), Jack Riewoldt (Richmond), and Lachie Whitfield (GWS Giants) all received the maximum ten votes from the AFL coaches for round 21.

Last week’s overall leader Tom Mitchell polled just one vote in his side’s win over Geelong and his lead has been cut to just four votes heading into the final two rounds.

The Round 22 and 23 votes will not be released until the winner is announced at the end of the home and away season.
