IT’S not every day a bunch of Port Adelaide footballers can give two award-winning chefs a taste of something new, but that is exactly what happened in a documentary which aired on SBS recently.

As part of the cooking show Chef Exchange, renowned Adelaide chef Jock Zonfrillo and Shandong chef Qu Jianmin visited Shanghai at the time Port Adelaide played its historic game against Gold Coast in 2017.

The episode aired recently on SBS, as well as on Shandong-based Qingdao TV, to an audience in the tens of millions.

Chef Exchange is about how the Chinese and Australian cultures combine based around finding fresh produce and creating amazing food.

As part of this series, the Port Adelaide Football Club worked with South Australian film producers 57 Films, who travelled to Shanghai for the game.

Both Chefs mingled and shared food, including rock lobster rolls using South Australian lobsters and prepared by a former Adelaide chef, with our supporters in the Australia Hub outside the Adelaide Arena at Jiangwan Stadium.

Afterwards they headed inside to see the Power beat the Suns.

“For the first time in history, China has invited Australia to host a landmark game played in Shanghai,” Qu Jianmin says in the program.

“I am very glad to catch this opportunity.”

Designed to showcase the best that South Australia has to offer, we think the show chose well in following Port Adelaide.
