Elevated rookie Wade Thompson has been named as an emergency – along with hard nut Tom Logan and versatile defender Toby Thurstans – for Sunday’s Round 1 battle against the Bombers after the squad was trimmed to 22 this afternoon.
With nearly a full squad available to choose from, the three were unlucky omissions from the Power’s final side, which will be looking to make AAMI Stadium a Power fortress in 2009 – starting on Sunday.
Exciting youngster Nathan Krakouer’s strong pre-season form has earned him a spot in the half back line. The 20-year-old managed just three games in 2008, but after an injury-free pre-season the club has high hopes for him in a new role.
