The term "great man" is overused these days, but I remember when I first started saying it, sometime in 2002/03/04 when Trederr's started relentlessly destroying Essendon whenever we played at telstra dome.



To just dominate the forward 50 and the goal square, the sheer confidence it gave us all to know he was there.



So strong, so focussed. What a champion footballer for the re-birth of the PAFC. So badly he was needed and so wonderfully we were rewarded.

Tredders, what a wonderful example of a champion footballer. The word legend has been replaced in the dictionary with "TREDREA". Today was like a member of my family had died. Whilst we all knew this day was coming we always hoped that you could persevere and return for the last couple of games as well as play again next year. As per normal all you could think of was the betterment of the club by making way for a younger player!! An inspiration to all and reading all the accolades before me makes me proud to know that so many people think of you as i do. Tredders I have to tell you a little story. I used to teach swimming to 3 to 6 year olds at Unley swimming academy. One day a little boy came to my class and I could tell he was going to be a tough one to teach. He had a short attention span and just wanted to be anywhere but the pool for that half hour. He was a big build for a little boy - as in tall not fat - and he was pretty athletic so I knew if he put his mind to it, he'd be a great little swimmer. Anyway I noticed that his dad was a Collingwood supporter so I started talking to him about footy. He said to me that he liked Port Adelaide. Well to be honest this kid had a big resemblance to you, so I told him that he reminded me of Tredders. He just looked at me with big eyes and smiled and after that teaching him was easy as. :-)
Thanks very much for all the years that you contributed to Port Adelaide. I loved going to footy at Alberton with Mum every other week and used to sit in the Fos Williams stand in the front row and try and get autographs off all the players during the reserves game. I think I managed to get yours. I really am going to miss you at the club, but look forward to seeing your influence rub off on all the young players coming up. Thanks for everything Tredders. It's a very sad day for our club, but all good things must come to an end. The name Warren Tredrea will forever be mentioned among the all time greats of the game: perhaps the only honour to elude him is the Brownlow Medal, but that's OK, because it's an award that's voted on by the umpires, who are blind as bats anyway. LOL Thanks for everything Tredders: you will always be remembered fondly in the hearts of all Port fans, and hopefully all true football fans in general.

Tredders, ever since I became a Power supporter you have been my favourite player! I love watching you play and kick all those goals. You were a team player who would set up others for a goal. The 2004 Grand Final will be one I'll always remember - what a great match! I'm not sure how I'll react to seeing someone else wearing your famous number 16 guernsey. The best memory of you was during the 2007 Cats vs Power match down at Skilled Stadium where we won. I was able to go down into the rooms after the game and meet you. It was fantastic to meet you in person as I am a Victorian supporter.

When you injured your ankle, it was heart breaking!! But I thought you could make it back, but it wasnt to be. I am so sad to see you go.

Tredders you have been my favourite player since I was a kid. The way you could dominate a game, score goals and set up goals for team mates as well as play on some of the great backmen and beat them pretty convincingly was always awesome to watch. Unfortunately people kept falling over your knees which took away some of your best years. You are a great role model for youngsters playing the game at all levels and watching you certainly had an influence on the way I liked to play. I hope you can come out for one last game and let the fans say goodbye and lets hope you move into the coaches box with the power and help 'budda' hocking with our young guys and build for the next premiership. Great man - thanks for the memories!... You'll never know how much your career meant to us true believers... You summed it up beautifully when you said "I was lucky enough to play in our final SANFL premiership in 1996 and our first AFL premiership in 2004, so I had the best of both worlds"... No luck about it though mate, no-one deserved that honour more than you did... You've given us all one hell of a ride over the past 15 years and we would have loved to have seen you run out one last time... Typically though, you're too much of a club man to indulge yourself with a farewell game... Says it all really...

My heart was saddened on hearing the news...... you are a legend!!! Watching 2 to 3 blokes hang of you like a clothes line was always entertaining, you couldn't be kept down, not without a fight, and that was proof with your injuries too. You said last year that you were one serious injury away from retirement and sadly it now seems that your word were indeed prophetic ones. I think Warren Tredrea will go down as one of the greatest centre half forwards of the past decade the man himself oozes what the Port Adelaide Football Club stands for the way he went about his football his leadership his presence use to scare opposition players it's sad to see someone like Warren leave because he was a mentor to the younger players in the later part of his carrer I would also like to say it has been a absolute pleasure to watch Warren play football on T.V I knew the first day I Seen him on T.V round 2 1997 I knew this guy is gonna be a superstar. Fantastic Career, the best Power player ever, record speaks for itself. Great Team man right to the end, a bloke of his caliber doesn't need a farewell game as he has achieved everything already on the field. The supporters appreciate you putting the needs of the club and its youngsters ahead of your own and dismissing the farwell game option. Who can forget you holding the cup aloft in 2004.
I'm sure your time at the PAFC isn't finished, you would suit up quite nicely next to Primus in the coaches box. Mentoring guys like Daniel Stewart, Westhoffs, and John Butcher.
I reckon a win this week against the Hawks will be a great parting gift for a Champion, the players were fantastic last week against the Crows, it brightened the spirits of all fans and hopefully it continues for rest of the year.

What an unbelievable player! I'm based in Melbourne and went to see the Power play at Optus. Tredders took 9 marks in the first quarter and was standing Kouta I think. Poor guy had no idea what to do. One of the best I've seen.

Or what about the semi against Essendon in the wet when he singlehandedly won the game. A real champion of the club and vastly underrated by the AFL fans....but not by opposition coaches judging by the 2 players he always had to beat. Thanks for the memories.

I believe Tredders didn't play a bad game in the AFL. Even when people questioned his form, and indeed, his place in the team a couple of years back, if you looked closely at his game, then that assumption was laughable. His tackling, his inside 50 pressure, his assists, his one percenters, his positive aura around the team and the confidence he gave to those around him including staff, players and supporters was SENSATIONAL. Thanks for the great memories Tredrea and all the best in your future career.
