An emerging talent who had a strong 2010 debut where he showed promise and excitement as a clever small forward, Cam Hitchcock has since struggled to replicate that form through injury sidelining him from the majority of the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Background

  • Hitchcock was drafted to Port Adelaide from SANFL side Glenelg.

Season by Season

Season by Season

Hitchcock battled through a difficult 2013 campaign. Playing just a handful of games he battled injury across the season and slowly worked his way back into form in the SANFL with Glenelg.

  • A pre-season shoulder and repeated hamstring injuries prevented Hitchcock having any meaningful impact on the 2012 season.
  • He reinjured his hamstring within the opening minutes of the Round 6 game against Richmond and was subbed off, before being subbed on against the Hawks in his only other game of 2012 in Round 11.
  • He spent significant game time in Glenelg’s League side for those weeks of the season he was uninjured.

  • With a seeming case of second-year blues, Hitchcock only managed 13 games in season 2011.
  • Despite a less prolific return in front of goals, he showed glimpses of his debut year form through the middle part of the year and he worked to continually develop his body and find a way to use his quick pace to provide spark in the forward lines.
  • A rookie draft pick, Hitchcock exploded onto the scene with a massive game against West Coast in Round 2 where he kicked two critical goals in an emphatic Port Adelaide victory at Subiaco.
  • He demonstrated potential to develop into a midfield role with his quick foot speed, but it was his kicking in front of goals that proved most positive – with 20 majors from 17 games.
