After kicking five goals in the opening game and a half the tall forward's 2009 season was disrupted by a round 2 stress fracture of the foot against West Coast which sidelined him for the next eight weeks. He returned in Round 11 against Fremantle with an impressive three goal display and in total kicked 20 goals from his 13 Power appearances last year. His defensive pressure and hard running in the forward line are a strength of his game and continue to set up goals for his team mates. The Power will be looking at Westhoff remaining injury free this year so he can be used as both another tall forward option and as a pinch hitting ruckman to support Dean Brogan as seen in the NAB Cup.
