Thompson began his first season at AFL level last year with an exciting debut in the NAB Cup opener against Sydney kicking three goals. The player nicknamed the "bullet" displayed a great turn of speed and goal sense and was rewarded with a promotion to the Power's senior list in rounds 3 and 4 of last season. After a positive start Thompson's form fell away and he eventually found himself playing SANFL reserves for North Adelaide by season's end. The Power will be hoping the 21 year old can rediscover his preseason form from last year and become a genuine goal scoring option in 2010.
