It's no surprise to see running machine Karl Amon feature prominently in Port Adelaide's best runners of 2021.

KARL AMON, Travis Boak, Xavier Duursma and… Tom Jonas?

When it comes to who covers the most territory per game for Port Adelaide one name might surprise you.

Data released by the AFL’s Telstra Tracker shows skipper Tom Jonas clocked a remarkable 15.39km against Melbourne in Round 17.

That ranks as the highest distance covered in a single game in 2021 by a Port Adelaide player, edging out four 15km efforts by the tireless Karl Amon which made up the rest of the club’s top five.

Adelaide’s Lachie Scholl registered the highest single game result across the competition in 2021 when he covered 17.26km against North Melbourne.

The record for distance covered in a single game is still held by then Greater Western Sydney midfielder Tom Scully who covered 18.9km in a single game.

While Jonas set the individual game tone, Amon edged him out when it comes to the average distance he covered per game in 2021.

Amon’s 13.95km per game ranked him above Jonas (13.8), Xavier Duursma (13.47) and Travis Boak (13.34). Connor Rozee rounded out the club’s top five with 13.33km per game.

Carlton’s Sam Walsh led the competition with an average distance covered of 15.49km. He is one of just four players league-wide to cover more than 15km per game alongside teammate Matthew Cottrell (15.29), Melbourne wingman Ed Langdon (15.3) and West Coast midfielder Andrew Gaff (15.03).
