PORT ADELAIDE’S playing list remains in good shape after its internal trial last Saturday in the lead up to its first NAB Challenge hitout against the Crows this weekend.

It’s good news for the Power after ruckman Jarrad Redden was placed onto the club’s long term injury list on Monday.

High performance manager Darren Burgess told portadelaidefc.com.au Redden will be given every opportunity to recover from the knee surgery he underwent at the start of February.

“Reddo is out for at least eight weeks which gives him the opportunity to recover properly and be in shape for the early part of the season,” said Burgess.

“He’s obviously had a battle with injuries before, so we need to take time to get the knee right and get him back out on the park.

“We want him to play as much footy as possible this year and he’s already been working with our fitness coaches to get that rehab well underway.”

Jackson Trengove and Hamish Hartlett continue their recovery from knee and shoulder injuries respectively, with the pair missing Saturday’s internal trial.

Hartlett is expected to return to the field during the club’s NAB Challenge and trial game campaign while Trengove should resume full training shortly.

Burgess says Hartlett’s resting from the game was part of the standard rehabilitation process from his shoulder surgery in 2013.

“Hammer is getting to the end of his rehab period and we should see him back on the field during the pre-season games,” said Burgess.

“Jacko’s going steady and will be back on the track training fully shortly.”

Rookie-listed Sam Gray is also expected to be available for the first batch of the club’s SANFL trial games at the beginning of March.
