PORT Adelaide is confident the club has the replacements to cover the loss of star forwards Chad Wingard and Angus Monfries in Saturday's game against the Brisbane Lions.

Wingard has been ruled out of the game with an ankle injury, while Monfries will miss up to a month with a hamstring tear.

Port Adelaide director of coaching Shaun Hart said that given the team's form heading into the weekend, new players would have no issues slotting into the club's set-up.

"We've got (Cam) O'Shea, (Aaron) Young, (Cameron) Hitchcock, we've got different names that are all in the mix definitely for this weekend's game," Hart said.

"The team is up and running. We lost last week but I think there was a lot done right last week - no doubt about that.

"These guys can fit into a team that is running pretty well."

Hart spoke at Adelaide's Hutt St Centre on Thursday morning, where each year 50,000 of the city's homeless are given food.

Foodbank, the Power's charity partner, makes that possible by offering the centre food at hugely discounted prices - it's annual budget is just $64,000.

Hart said the philosophies behind organisations like Foodbank and the Hutt St Centre were similar to those at successful football clubs.

Each requires sacrifice and generosity to obtain its ultimate goal – in the Power's case, another premiership.

"What I hope I bring to Port Adelaide is connected to why we're here today - it's about the giving towards a greater cause," he said.

"People need to understand that football clubs don't just exist for football purposes, but they actually exist to change lives and to reach out to those in need."
