PORT ADELAIDE'S member total has been reduced by 1600 - to 52,129 - following the completion of the annual AFL member audit.

Having sold over 60,000 memberships for the third consecutive year - a figure reached just a week ago - the audit by the AFL brings the Port figure down to 52,129.

The audit includes all membership products that meet certain criteria, applied consistently across the league’s 18 clubs, and Port’s share of the 8,000 Adelaide Oval stadium members based on a split of 28% being allocated to the club by the ground's Stadium Management Authority.

Despite the minor drop in its overall membership figures, Port Adelaide remains in the top six of clubs for home match attendances, with its games the second-most attended among the non-Victorian clubs.

Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas thanked Port Adelaide’s members for their support again in 2017.

“These figures are in the same ballpark as those of the last two seasons – since 2015 we’ve had over 60,000 club members and our audit figures have always cleared 50,000,” Mr Thomas said.

“Thanks to our members, Port Adelaide remains one of the most-supported clubs in Australia, and that’s a really important point to remember.

“The passion of our members has been on show all year, and I thank them on behalf of everyone at Alberton for sticking with us after the challenges of the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

“We’re an ambitious football club, and these figures are now the standard, not the exception, at Alberton, so we’ll be reviewing our packages again ahead of 2018 to ensure the best value and accessibility for our members.”
