Kane Farrell will become Port Adelaide’s second debutant in as many weeks when he takes to the field against the Western Bulldogs in Ballarat this week.

Mars Stadium in Ballarat is around an hour away from where he grew up in Castlemaine.

The teenager was selected by Port Adelaide with pick 51 in the 2017 draft after he performed strongly at the National Draft Combine.

Farrell won the agility test before finishing second in the 20m sprint displaying his athleticism.

Playing for Vic Country in the 2017 Under 18 Championships, Farrell averaged 14 touches and three marks a game, while averaging 17 possessions for Bendigo in the TAC Cup.

The 19-year-old has impressed with his composure and foot skills in the SANFL this season and he possesses an elite left foot and an ability to take a strong mark and break lines with his pace.

Playing as a half forward he has managed 20 goals in his 13 games including bags of three against Sturt on Anzac Day, and in his last two games against the Eagles in Round 13 and Glenelg in Round 15.

An AFL emergency against Fremantle in Perth in Round 17, the man known as “Faz” will get his chance at the highest level on Sunday.
