PORT ADELAIDE’s best young players will get their first taste of action against AFL opposition in a Showdown, when they take on the Adelaide Crows in an under-23 trial game later this month.

The best young talent across the two South Australian AFL clubs will be on show on Saturday 23 February at Thebarton Oval.

The Power and Crows have worked together to organise the hit-out, which comes a week after Port Adelaide’s intra-club match at Alberton.

The game could see young Power draftees Connor Rozee, Zak Butters, Xavier Duursma, Riley Grundy and Boyd Woodcock and rookies Tobin Cox, Kai Pudney and Martin Frederick play together in Power colours for the first time.

The game is open to the public, with access through the main gates on Meyer St.

Three other AFL practice games have been confirmed in recent days with Hawthorn to face Carlton on Thursday February 21, and Collingwood playing Melbourne and Geelong taking on North Melbourne the following day.

Port Adelaide and Adelaide will then square off in their scheduled JLT Community Series Showdown in Port Pirie on Saturday 2 March.
