THE 2019 AFL Premiership Season is fast approaching with just 28 days until Port Adelaide kicks off its campaign against Melbourne at the MCG in the pursuit of premiership glory.
The season will officially be launched at a special Season Launch and Hall of Fame gala event at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Wednesday 6 March.
The event is a rare opportunity for members and supporters to mingle with players who will be seated at each table.
Celebrating the past, present and future of the club, the Power’s newest players including recruits Scott Lycett, Sam Mayes and Ryan Burton and draftees Connor Rozee, Xavier Duursma and Zak Butters will be presented with their guernseys by club greats.
With 11 new faces on the playing list, the event will provide them a unique chance to mingle with past greats of the club and gain an insight into just what has driven the club to greatness over the years.
All club coaches and officials will also be present, with Power coach Ken Hinkley and Magpies coach Matthew Lokan to each give an exclusive on-stage interview about the season ahead.
New Power co-captains Tom Jonas and Ollie Wines will also be interviewed live along with new Magpies leadership player Cam Sutcliffe.
In 2018, for the first time, the season lunch event became a combined Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and this year will be no different with the next group of club greats to be elevated amongst impressive company.
In 2018 the inductees included legendary player, administrator and life member Bob Clayton, AFL Premiership Coach and four-time Premiership player Mark Williams, eight-time premiership player Paul Northeast and AFL premiership captain Warren Tredrea.
For the first time, a premiership team was also inducted into the Hall of Fame with the record-breaking 1954 to 1959 teams that won six consecutive premierships the first to be inducted, in what will become an annual tradition.
Held at the magnificent new auditorium at the Adelaide Convention Centre, the event provided a unique opportunity to kick-start a blockbuster season where members and supporters can brush arms with current and former Port Adelaide champions.
There will also be a live auction and raffle on the night with some incredible prizes up for grabs.
Among the items to be auctioned off are an Adelaide Oval corporate package, and AFL Grand Final package for four people, and a framed 2019 Port Adelaide Football Club guernsey.
Tickets are $210 per person for a three-course meal, premium beverage package and entertainment, including live music and other special performances.
