PORT ADELAIDE enters season 2019 with a near-full strength list to choose from for its Round 1 clash against Melbourne at the MCG.

Ruckman Paddy Ryder will be given until later in the week to prove he has recovered from surgery to repair a depressed cheekbone suffered in the Power’s JLT2 win over North Melbourne.

Ollie Wines remains on track for an early season return from a shoulder injury but won’t play this week.

In positive news, vice-captain Hamish Hartlett looks set to return to competitive football when Port Adelaide plays a SANFL trial game against Adelaide on Friday evening.

Hartlett had a knee reconstruction after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament last April.

Midfielder Joe Atley is also expected to play for the Magpies on Friday following knee surgery early this year.

The club is yet to determine when defenders Jarrod Lienert and Riley Grundy can return to play after respective knee injuries.
