PORT ADELAIDE defeated Gold Coast by 38 points on a wet Sunday afternoon at Adelaide Oval in Round 9.

The Power kicked seven goals to one in the second half to turn a four-point half time deficit into a six-goal victory and record its fifth win of the season.

Here are the talking points from the clash.

The Power’s attacking second-half dominance:

Port registered 44 inside 50 entries to Gold Coast’s nine in the third and fourth quarters.

The Power had 15 scoring shots in that period to the Suns’ three, and the attack was led by Travis Boak and Tom Rockliff in the midfield.

The score was 50-8 in Port’s favour after half time.

Boak and Rockliff continue to have a huge impact in 2019.

Travis Boak was in fantastic form again on Sunday afternoon, collecting 36 touches in tough conditions at Adelaide Oval.

Boak has now registered 30+ possessions in seven of the nine games so far in 2019.

It was another performance from the former skipper that drew plenty of praise from senior coach Ken Hinkley in his post-game press conference.

Tom Rockliff is also back to his ball-winning best, racking up 30+ touches for the sixth time this season.

Rockliff had 30 disposals against the Suns - including 18 in the Power’s dominant second half.

Port’s tackle pressure was on:

Despite having more of the footy than Gold Coast, Port also led the tackle count 63-61.

The Power were particularly desperate in their forward half, with Connor Rozee and Sam Gray combining for 15 tackles.

Rockliff (6) and Sam Powell-Pepper (5) also heaped the pressure on the Suns in the midfield, laying 11 tackles between them.

The Power’s young avenue to goal:

They had a collective total of 14 games before Sunday’s clash with the Suns, but Billy Frampton, Kane Farrell and Rozee combined for eight out of Port’s 13 goals.

Frampton imposed himself on the game, crashing packs and marking well in tough conditions, while Farrell and Rozee were both very clean at ground level.
