PORT ADELAIDE star Robbie Gray is excited to have some of the club’s leaders in co-captain Ollie Wines and key forward Charlie Dixon return to the side against Geelong this Saturday night.

Wines hasn’t played senior football since fracturing his fibula against Collingwood seven weeks ago, while Dixon hasn’t played since Round 21, 2018 when he broke his leg and damaged his ankle against West Coast at Adelaide Oval.

“We are really excited to get the big fella back in, in Charlie, and Ollie obviously back in our midfield, so another senior body around the footy,” Gray told SEN SA’s Breakfast program.

“He (Dixon) loves his footy and after having such a long period off, I think he’s just enjoying being back out there and playing footy.

“We’ve seen how he’s gone about the last few weeks down at Alberton, I think the crowd have loved him there.

“You can see the passion he has for the Port Adelaide Footy Club.

“We love playing with someone like that, not only for what he brings on the field, he’s a fierce competitor and he’ll back all the boys back up there, so we’re looking forward to getting him back in our forward line.”

Gray knows the difficulty of playing a side like Geelong at the top of their game, but says the Power are excited to test themselves against the league’s best in front of a big home crowd.

“Obviously they’re in outstanding form, they’re pretty strong all over the ground,” he said

“We are really excited for the challenge obviously, to get back in front of our crowd at Adelaide Oval.

“We’ve been away, travelling a fair bit over the last month, so we’ve got a few games coming up at Adelaide Oval.

“It’s a pretty important time of year, with a 6-6 win-loss, so we need to start stringing some wins together.”

Port Adelaide hosts the Cats at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night, with the first bounce commencing at 7:10pm.
