Tom Jonas on Travis Boak, Sam Gray and Dan Houston:

“(Boak) is just managing a couple of little niggles but he is absolutely no doubt for the weekend.

“He’s played 250 games - he’s got a few things going on, but like I said, he’ll be right.

“Similar stuff for (Sam), he is managing a couple of injuries. At this stage of the year you’ve just got to do what you’ve got to do during the week to make sure you’re right for the weekend.

“(Houston) had the pink hat on, which means no contact, so after the head knock you take all precautions. He will go through and do the concussion test on Friday and give him every opportunity, and we are pretty confident he will be good as well.

Jonas on the team’s form in recent weeks:

“Given there’s been a couple of poor performances in a row, the coaches will be looking at areas where we might be able to improve that.

“I will leave that up to Kenny and his guys but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some change.

Jonas on Ollie Wines:

“He was still on restricted duties - running laps and getting a little bit of touch in.

“He was pretty eager to play this week but I think the doc says he is a better chance to look at next week. He won’t be out there on Saturday night.

Jonas on the captaincy:

“I was lucky at the start we won the first two games, and you’re the best captain in the AFL.

“We’ve had to face some challenges, Ollie and I, we haven’t been out there at various times. We have had mixed form, which have created a fair few questions and they haven’t always been easy to answer.

“I knew it was going to be tough. It’s been a great opportunity to learn, and the support from Kenny and Boaky has been awesome.

Jonas on trying to turn the team’s form around:

“It’s been really important to stay positive and connected as a group.

“There is a lot of outside noise and that can create fractures, but we are in a really good position where believe what we are doing.

“We have been drilling down on the basics and the fundamentals that helped us play good footy at the start of the year.

“We are making sure our training standards are elite. We make sure there is nothing we can fall back on as an excuse.

Jonas on Paddy Ryder:

“I think Paddy will be right in the mix (for selection).

“We obviously know how important he is to our group. He is a huge talent - athletically and skill wise. It would be great to have Paddy back in the team and working in tandem with Scotty.

“I think Paddy will get his chance through hard work and strong performances in the twos.

Jonas on Dougal Howard’s positioning and the defensive set-up:

“I’d like to see Doug stay forward.

“He’s a real enigma up there and he can use his talents, his run and jump and he is a nice set shot for goal.

“We’ve got a lot of backs who are in form, who can come in down back and help us out.

“I’d prefer to keep him up forward, back him in, and help Charlie down there, and we will sort ourselves out.

Jonas on GWS:

“I think we have really let them get on top of us with their outside run.

“If they can feed it out to their quality mids - blokes like Whitfield and Kelly can be really damaging and they can really hurt us.

“If we can stop the ball getting out to them and hopefully curb their influence, that will go a long way (to us winning).

Jonas on the importance of Saturday night’s clash:

“Absolutely it’s important.

“When you’re sitting ninth and you look at the teams above. I think we are equal with three or four teams just below.

“We can control our own destiny by winning each game, and it starts this Saturday.

“(Finals) is absolutely what we are striving for. At the start of the year, that is where we wanted to be.
