Port Adelaide co-captain Ollie Wines is pushing for a return to football against the Bombers this weekend.

PORT ADELAIDE co-captain Ollie Wines will be assessed ahead of this weekend’s clash with Essendon at Marvel Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Wines - who has missed the last two weeks with a fractured thumb - will increase his contact training load as the week progresses in a bid to face the Bombers.

Small forward Tobin Cox will resume light training this week, after suffering a kidney injury against West Adelaide three weeks ago, and is a chance to return before the end of the season.

Riley Grundy will also be assessed this week, as he recovers from a broken finger.
