Jack Trengove on the lead-up to the grand final
“It’s a seriously exciting time going into grand final week.
“Glenelg and the Crows put on a good show on the weekend - and if our semi final is anything to go by - it will be a close contest.
“Hopefully a big crowd will get there to watch.
“It’s huge for the footy club.
“To take some of these young guys through and give them good finals exposure, and hopefully run away with a premiership, would be amazing.
“All the supporters expect to win flags regularly at the Magpies, so we will be doing everything in our power to make sure that happens.
“We couldn’t be more excited and more ready for a great challenge.
Trengove on playing for Port Adelaide:
“You don’t really appreciate it and understand it until you are a part of it, and wear the prison bars.
“There is so much passion, and so many legends who have come out of this footy club. It’s been so successful over the years.
“Russell Ebert is still running around and working for the club - he’s an absolute legend of the place.
“To think that you’re one of those players now, trying to create your own history, is amazing to be a part of. I think that is a huge motivation for a lot of the boys in the side right now.
Trengove on experiencing finals:
“There is no doubt that the boys playing for the Maggies, there number one goal is to get up to play AFL footy consistently.
“But the only way you can do that is performing well at the grade below, and the Magpies provide such a great history for us to represent. There is a lot of pride in the jumper.
“From my point of view, part of my role at the club is to help these younger guys develop and get them playing consistent AFL footy. If I can help them do that within the SANFL ranks, that’s a big goal of mine as well.
“With any finals series, when you get this far down into the season, you really want to make the most of it.
“The experience you get from a finals series - regardless of what level it is - will hopefully help them have really successful careers in the future.
Trengove on the SANFL competition:
“The SANFL is so huge here in Adelaide.
“To be back a part of it - I’ve loved every second of it the last couple of years. There is still so much passion from supporters and everybody watching.
“You can see with the crowds we have been getting lately, there is no doubt it is huge.
“As I said, I’ve loved every second of it, and I can’t wait to launch into this week and this weekend, and hopefully get some success.
