PORT ADELAIDE defender Darcy Byrne-Jones has inked a contract extension which will see him remain at the club until the end of 2023.

Byrne-Jones played all 22 games this season for the Power, taking his career tally to 86.

Taken at pick 52 in the 2013 AFL National Draft, the 24-year-old finished runner up to Travis Boak for this year’s John Cahill Medal, after a career-best year where he averaged 22.4 disposals - up from his career average of 17.

Already contracted until the end of 2020, the Oakleigh Chargers product has agreed to terms on a three-year extension.

“I’m grateful to the club for supporting me since being drafted in 2013,” Byrne-Jones said.

“We have a young and exciting list that is capable of challenging for a premiership and I’m looking forward to playing my part in that.”

General Manager – Football, Chris Davies said the club was pleased to have Byrne-Jones recommit to the club.

“Darcy has developed into one of the most reliable defenders in the side and someone who is a key component of our backline,” he said.

“At 24 we have seen him mature into a consistent AFL player and we are rapt that he’s chosen to extend his time at the club.”
