All tickets to Friday night's Preliminary Final were sold within four hours of the member priority on-sale.

FRIDAY night’s AFL Preliminary Final between Port Adelaide and Richmond has officially been sold out.

With capacity reduced at Adelaide Oval due to the South Australian Government’s COVID-19 guidelines, a total of 25,304 saleable tickets were available to members of both clubs from 9am on Monday.

All tickets were sold within four hours of the member priority on-sale.

“In the first thirty minutes, 22,500 tickets were sold so it’s fantastic so many of our people have jumped on board quickly to buy tickets to a massive game,” said Port Adelaide Executive General Manager, Matthew Richardson.

“A home preliminary final against Richmond is a huge game and a fantastic opportunity for our people.

“As we’ve said before, so many of our members have been amazing through the year where they’ve stuck with the club and paid their membership and for them to have the opportunity to come support the team on Friday night is terrific.”

Last week the Government announced an increase in the capacity for this game to 27,000 including standing room on the hill.

Mr Richardson explained some of the seats could not be sold, as was the case in the Qualifying Final.

“Because of the restrictions with COVID-19, there are some spaces around the players races, the boundary and the interchange bench that need to be left vacant,” he said.

“Once you factor in those, there are around 25,500 tickets available to purchase, inclusive of the hospitality rooms and corporate boxes.

“Regardless of the number of people we have had at games in 2020, the passion of our people and the atmosphere created by them has been unbelievable.

“There’s the player side and the energy the players must get from it, but also for our members who are fortunate enough to be at the game with that kind of atmosphere is a great experience.

“Our team is playing footy that our people are really proud of and I’m sure they’ll do the same on Friday night.”

The AFL coordinates ticket prices, seat categories and the on-sale schedule for all 2020 Toyota AFL Finals series matches.

Friday night’s game gets underway at 7:20pm ACDST.
