Port Adelaide’s average games number per player is 71.3 in 2021, compared to 69.0 in 2020.

PORT ADELAIDE may have lost two of its most experienced players in the off-season but it will actually enter the 2021 season with an older and more experienced squad.

With the retirement of both Justin Westhoff (34 years old, 280 games, 313 goals) and Brad Ebert (30 years old, 260 games, 140 goals), Port’s list will have a significantly different feel this season, and you might expect it to be significantly younger.

Well it will actually be older in 2021 than last year.

In 2020 the average age of the club’s players was 24.0, ranking it 12th in the competition as one of the youngest squads in the AFL.

2021 sees the average age move up to 24.5, which is ninth in the competition. St Kilda has the competition’s oldest list with an average age of 25.4 with Adelaide and Gold Coast the joint youngest at 23.8 years old.

Port Adelaide’s average games number per player was 69.0 in 2020, ranking the club fifth for experience. This season that number moves up to 71.3 but the club has slipped to sixth.

Geelong is the competition’s most experienced side with players having an average of 88 games. The Suns players average 53 games, ranking them the least experienced in the league.

The Cats also rank best for average goals by player with 73.5. Port Adelaide players average 41.5 goals, ranking the club seventh in that statistic for a second straight year despite slipping from 45.3 goals.

Reigning premier Richmond is fourth for age profile (25.0 years old) and games of experience (78.4), and second for average goals per player (57).
